Its signify us fully surrender to the creator, God almighty.Gen.2:7"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed in to his nostrils the breath of life; and man become a living being”. So always we obliged to the master created us His own image. We respect and obey our parents, teachers elders, spiritual leaders etc.
All the religion like Hindus, Buddhism, Muslims, Christians etc. practice kneel down while on their prayers and lent.
The Daniel major prophet (Dan.6:10) "he knelt down his knees three times and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days”. It shows always practices while on prayers.
Touching the earth that can help us realize our wish to generate the energies of love, compassion, joy and equanimity. During the practice, we touch the Earth and to our true nature. We touch the earth with our forehead, legs and hands, so that our mind and body form a perfect whole, allowing us to transcend ourself.
We surrender our pride, notions, fears, resentments and even hopes, and enter the world of things as they are. Touching the Earth is an effective practice. We return to our own source of wisdom and are no longer separate from the Mother Earth.
The one who bows and the one who is bowed to are of the same nature. When you touch the Earth in this spirit, isolation and alienation vanish, and your sense of a separate self will be replaced by a great feeling of oneness with all beings.
Even Jesus Son of God, kneels down to his father and prayed, "Oh my father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will". (Matt.26:39)
